Suspicion of swine flu among visitors of the Fowlerville Family Fair in Michigan
In Michigan, USA, two people who had visited the Fowlerville Family Fair have been infected with the influenza A virus. Influenza A viruses had also been found in some pigs of the fair. The fair took place from 23th until 28th of July. On 27th of July several pigs in the fair were tested positive for influenza A virus.
Further laboratory tests are performed to clarify whether the Influenza A viruses which caused the infections of the pigs and sick persons are belonging to the same strain. In the meantime, additional visitors of the fair also suffered from flu-like symptoms. They were tested for the pathogen as well. Furthermore, anyone developing flu-like symptoms within 10 days after the visit of the fair should undergo a medical examination.
